We are pleased to announce the second "Worldwide Perspectives on Geographical Indications (GIs)" conference, to be held in Rome, Italy, from 18 to 21 February 2025, organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry (MASAF), with CIRAD (Centre for International Cooperation in Agricultural Research for Development, Montpellier, France), IPI (Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property , Switzerland), oriGIn (Organization for an international network of geographical indications), oriGIn Italia and the Qualivita Foundation.

This conference follows the one held in Montpellier in July 2022, which demonstrated by its success - over 200 participants from 47 countries- the value of crossing research and practice, on the latest developments and prospects for GIs.

This second edition will be held in-person and will welcome representatives of all the stakeholders: researchers, public authorities, development agents, control bodies, representatives of sectors and territories, civil society, etc.

It will focus on the theme of innovation for sustainability, which is at the heart of all aspects of GI systems, particularly with a view to improving their performance in terms of sustainability (economic, social, environmental and governance) and their ability to adapt to multiple changes while preserving their framework of tradition and know-how.
